Parent Leadership Institute at North High School

Thanks to all the wonderful, engaged families who turned out this morning for the DPS Parent Leadership Institute at North High School. It was a busy and informative day, hearing from school leaders including Superintendent Tom Boasberg, as well as other education specialists. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the DPS Foundation booth and took brochures and flyers to distribute to their schools. And a special thanks to everyone who signed up to be DPS Foundation Sports Ambassadors for our community night games with the Rapids, Avs and Nuggets! Read more about special events & offers to see our hometown teams, visit Elitch Gardens and more!

The (first) first day of school in DPS! Welcome back students!

Mayor Hancock and Superintendent Tom Boasberg welcome students to the first day of school in Far Northeast Denver.

Today was the first day of school for more than 4,000 students in DPS! Schools in the Far Northeast region of Denver opened their doors this morning, marking the beginning of an exciting new school year. As a result of changes implemented last year, schools in Far Northeast will have:

  • longer school days and years to provide extended learning opportunities
  • daily monitoring of students’ progress
  • increased collaboration time for teachers
  • a strong emphasis on college and career preparation
